The Coda Collection

Re-inventing what the music experience can become in the streaming age.

The journey of The Coda Collection began with the belief that our experience of music in today’s world is too often becoming just a scattered mosaic of individual standalone songs. This lack of context is increasingly eroding the emotional and economic connection between artists and fans. To address this issue, we created The Coda Collection with a simple mission: to bring to life the stories that surround the songs that we love.

My journey with The Coda Collection began as I partnered with the founders at the inception of the company. Since then, I have established and led our talented and passionate teams across product, marketing, creative, design, and editorial. I have helped lead the creation of a product that spans a curated SVOD library of nearly 200 exclusive music films, innovative apps across iOS and Android that enable you to experience music content and context in a new way, and an accompanying website that features original work from many of the most talented writers in music today. I have also led the development of this vibrant new brand in the music and streaming space, and have led creative collaborations with artists spanning from Dave Grohl to Metallica.

We’ve created all of the above from scratch, and we’re just getting started. I couldn’t be prouder of the team that we’ve built, and what this team has accomplished thus far. Here are a few glimpses of what we’ve built together.

From the very beginning, The Coda Collection has been a mission-driven company. This short film seeks to give a glimpse of our mission, and the exclusive films that we have curated thus far.

As we have sought to unite music content and context, here is a unique new product that we’ve recently unveiled: The Coda Companion. Though we’ve just begun unfurling what this experience is going to become, we’re encouraged by users’ enthusiasm thus far, and we’re thrilled by the artists (such as Metallica and the estate of John Lennon) who have wanted to collaborate with us on these experiences.

Here is a demo of the first version of the experience.

Here is a rocking trailer that kicked off our partnership with Metallica, one of our biggest artist partnerships to date. It all began with a global live stream that we produced and promoted across Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Music, and Twitch (though I can’t get into the data here, the fan reaction was phenomenal). Since these epic livestreams, we have grown this multifaceted partnership to include a collaboration spanning 8 films, unique Coda Companion experiences, merch collections, and much more.

When Dave Grohl sought a partner to release his most recent film, he could have easily chosen any of the legacy streaming services. But instead, he saw in The Coda Collection an opportunity to create a unique destination for fans of The Foo Fighters— and indeed music fans overall. We are proud to be the exclusive home of the smash hit film “What Drives Us,” but even prouder of the new kind of collaboration that this represents.
